Why is it called Hell on Wheels?
In the 1860’s Cheyenne, WY overflowed with rough-and-tumble cowboys & cowgirls, railroaders, ladies of the night and lawmen earning the nickname Hell on Wheels. Today, our manners may be better, but the spirit of adventure and a “hold my beer, watch this” attitude in the rodeo arena lives on, much to audiences’ delight. Take a step back in time and join Visit Cheyenne and DeLancey Family for an evening celebrating our cowboy roots!
A hundred years before food trucks were popular chuck wagons were your home for food on the go. The Award-winning 3LazyR Chuck Wagon will be fixin’ up some slow-cooked fare including brisket and beans, garlic roasted baby potatoes, and warm cobbler will fill your belly and your heart with a true taste of the West.
After dinner, get ready to cheer on our hometown cowboys and cowgirls competing in events including Bareback and Saddle Bronc Riding, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and more. Enjoy the West’s favorite sport under the open sky with some of the region’s finest competitors!
Can’t make it to the chuck wagon dinner? No problem. Food trucks will be available onsite during the rodeo and libations will be available onsite for those 21 years and older.
